Dr. Jenny O. Smith is a board-certified gastroenterologist. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Mississippi State University (Go Bulldogs!) and earned her M.D. from the University of Mississippi School of Medicine.

Dr. Smith completed both her internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowships at Virginia Commonwealth
University — Medical College of Virginia.

Prior to joining Blount Gastroenterology Associates in 2014, Dr. Smith was in private practice for four years in Charlottesville, VA. When asked what brought her to Blount Gastroenterology, Dr Smith replied, “Originally from Mississippi, my husband and I decided that we wanted to move back to the South to be closer to family and return to our roots. Maryville is a small, tightly knit community that felt like where we were raised, and we wanted to raise our family in that environment.”

Dr. Smith is a member of the Bockus International Society for Gastroenterology.

Dr. Smith is a proud supporter and a former board member of New Hope, the Blount County Children’s Advocacy Center.

Dr Smith lives in Maryville with her husband Scot and their daughter, who recently graduated from Maryville City Schools and will soon be attending Penn State.

In her leisure time, Dr. Smith enjoys reading, traveling and deeply loves watching sports. She also volunteers for the Mississippi State University Alumni Association.
