Michael J. Coffey, M.D. was born in New Orleans, La. He received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from Duke University in Durham, N.C., in 1986 graduating Magna Cum Laude. Dr. Coffey completed his Medical Degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in 1990 graduating Alpha Omega Alpha and received the Van Houten Scholarship 1987-1989 and the Lange Book Award in 1988. Dr. Coffey completed his Internal Medicine Residency in 1994 at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, N.C., followed by his Fellowship in Gastroenterology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine in Louisville, Ky.
Dr. Coffey is Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology.
Dr. Coffey joined a Maryville practice in 1999 after being in private practice in the Crossville, Tenn., area for several years. Dr. Coffey is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians – ASIM, and Tennessee Medical Association.
Dr. Coffey lives in Maryville, Tenn., with his two sons. In his leisure time, Dr. Coffey enjoys canoeing and working on his computer.
